John advises clients on a range of domestic and international tax issues, with extensive focus in the energy, retail and consumer products, financial services and entertainment industries. He has represented companies and trade associations before Congress, the White House, Treasury and the IRS, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Before joining Washington Council Ernst & Young, John was Director of Tax and Economic Policy for the Financial Executives Institute, where he represented the organization’s 14,000 CFOs, treasurers, chief tax officers and controllers.
John worked as a special assistant in the Bush administration in the Department of Labor’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration, where he formulated position papers on employee benefits issues, retirement and health care policy.
John has a BA in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese from Vanderbilt University. He has served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America National Capital Area Council.
