In the words of our judges
“Eric’s transformative leadership has revolutionized kidney health care for over 150,000 patients through a mix of services, telehealth, and education, firmly establishing the company as a vanguard in the industry.”
It can’t be easy to tell a startup’s founders they need to scrap their business model and prepare to enter a different sector. But then turning their business into something that improves the lives of thousands is next-level difficult. Eric Reimer’s unique blend of skills, vision and leadership qualities drove the transformation story that is Healthmap.
Like most children, Reimer loved when it snowed, but not for the usual reasons. He saw an opportunity to earn money shoveling. Raised in a middle-class New Jersey family, he cites his parents’ work ethic and sports as major influences. As captain of his high school basketball team, he learned to make decisive plays, read the game and establish trust with others.
Reimer called on those skills to guide several successful turnarounds at health care companies before becoming chairman of Healthmap. The consulting firm provided data aggregation, IT development and actuarial modeling on a project basis, but it had no recurring revenue. In 2015, Reimer advised a significant pivot: focus on an area where they could improve cost of care and patient outcome. The founders landed on early-stage chronic kidney disease and dialysis, and they asked him to assume the CEO role in 2020.
Under Reimer’s leadership, Healthmap has transformed into a disrupter, using cutting-edge technology and clinical acumen for early detection and to decelerate kidney disease progression. Its innovative approach creates substantial cost efficiencies for health care plans and provider groups by streamlining care and championing in-home treatments. Healthmap equips physicians and care teams with the insights to tailor interventions.
Top-line revenue has grown more than 200% over the prior year, with revenue growth of over 50% expected next year. Its team of 60 is now at 600 and growing. But more important, Healthmap is improving outcomes for patients, with solutions for over 150,000 patients, up from 20,000 in 2020. And that’s next-level for health care as a whole.
