In the words of our judges
“From immigrant to industry innovator, Dhruv has redefined the logistics landscape, catapulting ShipBob to a global leader in e-commerce logistics, supply chain, and shipping.”
In ShipBob’s early days, Dhruv Saxena conducted customer research at a shared sticking point: the post office — specifically, while waiting in line at the post office. In talking to other entrepreneurs with orders to ship, he realized small businesses had an unmet need for outsourcing shipping and logistics at their current scale. Security may have chased Saxena from the post office for his on-site surveys — with one Chicago location banning him — but a business was born.
ShipBob is now a leading global supply chain and fulfillment platform for modern e-commerce merchants. Its mission is to democratize access to best-in-class supply chain and fulfillment infrastructure for direct-to-consumer businesses that lack the expertise to scale their logistics operations or want to focus on product and brand development, marketing, and community building.
Born in New Delhi, India, Saxena embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, passed down to him from his father, from whom he learned the importance of loyalty in business and the freedom that entrepreneurship provides. When he was accepted to the Y Combinator incubator program in Silicon Valley, he decided to keep ShipBob based in Chicago in a show of loyalty to its merchants.
Through ShipBob, Saxena aims to eliminate barriers for would-be entrepreneurs. The company’s cloud-based technology includes an intuitive user interface and integrated supply chain capabilities that enable entrepreneurs to offer a premium fulfillment experience on their own storefront. ShipBob’s fully integrated platform captures data across all stages of the order lifecycle, from inbound freight from the manufacturer to delivery at the consumer’s doorstep. In turn, merchants get visibility across inventory, orders, shipping and returns.
In his quest to help entrepreneurs compete with some of the biggest names in e-commerce, Saxena has expanded ShipBob overseas, launched new offerings, partnered with leading global companies and reached unicorn status.
