A leading global wholesaler worked with the EY Managed Services team to upgrade its e-com services. The wholesaler was expanding through acquisition and needed to replace aging power hardware in its datacenter. Improved IT resilience and the capability of importing the recent acquisition’s IT burdens under one platform and development team would be pivotal to maximizing the transaction’s full value.
▉ The challenge
The wholesaler needed to shift to a common, modern, container-focused platform.
▉ The solution
Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) worked with the wholesaler’s business and technical leaders to design, architect, build, deploy and test a common platform based on OpenShift e-commerce on private cloud in the customer datacenters. Application support teams worked to build and test a modern e-com suite containers and establish container-based development pipelines for application delivery on OpenShift.
▉ The outcome
The wholesaler now has the computing power to meet its business demands and better serve its B2B customers. The platform is container based on OpenShift and is moving to microservices as the future state, on the same platform, with expansion to B2C/retailing as the next step. EY US continues to assist via its managed services team for the e-com stack with other third-party vendors.
