EY Foundation and University Relations

Through the Foundation's matching gifts program, eligible gifts from active and retired EY partners, principals and personnel to US accredited, non-profit higher education institutions are matched in accordance with program guidelines.

Over the past five years, the Foundation has matched over $52 million in gifts in support of 637 academic institutions to foster academic opportunity and excellence.

The EY Social Justice Fund was created in 2021 to expand the firm’s long-standing, anti-racism commitments and corporate responsibility efforts. The fund serves as a platform that allows EY professionals in the US to recommend nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to addressing the root causes of social injustice and inequity by increasing the engagement, access and influence of marginalized communities. Selected organizations work across a variety of domains, including education, economic empowerment, criminal justice, technology and health care.  Over the past three years, the EY Social Justice program within the Foundation has awarded over $10 million in direct grants.

Launched in 2009, College MAP is EY's signature volunteer program in education. It is a multi-year, group-mentoring program focused on empowering students in underserved high schools across the US so that they can gain access to college and succeed in higher education.

The program also offers scholarships for both first year and continuing students to help fill the gap between financial means and college expenses. Donations from partners, principals and employees are matched in accordance with program guidelines.

Over the past five years, the Foundation has awarded over $5 million in scholarships.

The EY Career Path Accelerator provides an accessible and affordable pathway for students to meet the 150 hours of education required for CPA licensure. Through profession-relevant coursework and job-related learning, this program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in their careers, while also providing them with the opportunity to enter the workforce after completing an undergraduate degree. The accredited courses in this program are offered at an affordable price with financial aid available.

Since its launch in the summer of 2021, over 500 EY US current and former interns have enrolled in the program.  More than 50% of learners are racially and ethnically diverse and approximately 65% have received need-based scholarships totaling over $600,000.

The Foundation supports a number of events for faculty, including:

EYARC Colloquium

The EYARC hosts an annual colloquium showcasing the free EYARC curriculum materials and focusing on issues of critical importance to the next generation of professionals. Recent topics included ethics mindset, innovation mindset and analytics mindset.

New Faculty Consortium

Over the last more than 20 years, the Foundation has funded over $3.3 million in support of the American Accounting Association’s New Faculty Consortium. This event, the only education program of its kind, helps jump-start the careers of new faculty through its focus on scholarship, research, teaching and career development.

Tax Educators Symposium

The Foundation convenes an annual symposium to assist tax faculty in staying abreast with the latest technical developments and emerging issues, including the impact of emerging technologies on the tax profession.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness Roundtable

The Foundation hosts as annual roundtable to assist faculty and administrators in understanding and incorporating leading practices in inclusiveness in order to better prepare their students to succeed in a diverse work environment.

The Foundation funds annual awards for outstanding teaching, including the Ray M. Sommerfeld Outstanding Tax Educator Award and the American Accounting Association’s Innovation in Accounting Education Award, and the EYARC Catherine Banks Disruptor Award. In addition, the Foundation supports a number of outstanding research and teaching awards across the country.

We offer extensive EY thought leadership, including AccountingLink and a virtual newsstand of current articles, case studies and other publications, including technical accounting guidance and regulatory insights.

We also offer on-demand webcasts and EYARC account holders receive periodic newsletters providing insights on new curriculum development.

In addition to its educational efforts, in certain cases when disasters occur, partners and staff have the opportunity to make tax-deductible contributions to the Foundation which are used to assist EY people, their families and communities. Over the last five years, the Foundation has provided over $2.2 million of financial assistance to victims of disasters.
