Since taking executive office on 21 January 2021, President Biden has made immigration a central pillar of his new administration’s focus, promising to build a fair and humane immigration system. Following the senate confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of Homeland Security, on 2 February 2021, President Biden has taken immediate actions, including ordering agencies to review recent regulations, policies and guidance. The Biden Administration also intends to work closely with Congress to enact comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
