ZURICH, 29 SEPTEMBER 2023 – Markus Köpfli, Head Digital Business Services / Group CIO of Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. has been named the Best IT Manager of 2023. "He puts people first and has placed IT as one of the driving innovators in the company," said Confare Swiss CIO Awards jury chairman Jan Leitermann, Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at EY in Switzerland. "Mettler-Toledo has already consistently invested in IT over the last 10+ years. Markus Köpfli has long been an important part of this development and, since his appointment as Group CIO in 2019, has consistently continued this process and positioned IT as an equal partner for the business."
Other winners to receive the Top CIO of the Year award included the following: Michael Nussbaumer, CIO & Executive Board of Regionalwerke AG Baden and Marc Pfeiffer, CIO & Member of the Executive Board of the Tax Administration of the Canton of Bern. Leitermann says, "We received many excellent applications for this year's Confare Swiss CIO Award. Through initiatives like this, we can make the relevance of new technologies visible to a broad public and thus help CIOs enormously on their way and value their achievements." Every year, he said, an award like this can put the spotlight on CIOs' achievements. "Furthermore, we can show which technologies and concrete use cases are the drivers for innovation, like AI and GenAI this year. Therefore, I am very happy to be able to support the Confare Swiss CIO Award," says jury chairman Leitermann.
About the Award
The Confare Swiss CIO Award is presented annually by EY Switzerland in collaboration with the CIO platform Confare. It recognizes the best Swiss IT managers of the year with the Confare Swiss CIO Award. The winners are selected by a jury headed by Jan Leitermann, Head of Technology Consulting Switzerland at EY in Switzerland. The other jury members who selected this year's Swiss winners are Stella Gatziu Grivas (Professor at the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland), Christian Russ (Lecturer and Head of Studies at the School of Management and Law - Institute of Information Systems at the ZHAW), Reinhard Riedl (Co-Founder and Board of Directors, all-acad. com AG), Gerhard Schwabe (Professor of Information Management at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Zurich) and Alec Joannou (Global CIO of ABB) as well as the two winners of the Confare Swiss CIO Awards 2022 Guru Sivaraman (CIO of the University Hospital Zurich) and Pascal Schär (CIO of the Insel Group).
