The Omnibus Simplification Package (“Omnibus”) is part of the European Commission's commitment to reduce wider sustainability reporting burdens.
We are observing significant interest from policy stakeholders and industry groups, resulting in a broad variety of positions discussed with our clients. Some warn against reopening recently adopted legislation, considering this could result in legal uncertainty, a lack of level-playing field, and a dilution of environmental commitments. Others see this as an opportunity to significantly reduce reporting burdens and promote economic competitiveness, calling for implementation delays to enable the time to make considerable adjustments to the legislation.
The legislative proposal has been published on 26 February 2025. We will discuss potential simplification measures across CSRD, EU Taxonomy Regulation, CS3D and other Green Deal initiatives with our EY EMEIA Policy Lead Andrew Hobbs on 6 March.
In this overview and discussion we will also consider the impacts for Swiss companies and the ongoing Swiss revision on sustainability reporting from an assurance as well as from an advisory perspective
