Prior to joining EY, Sam co-founded the award-winning FreshWorks Studio — Canada’s top agile application development practice, where he grew the team from two employees to 105 in just six years. Through EY’s acquisition of FreshWorks, Sam is now leading a diverse, multidisciplinary team of more than 150 designers, app developers, consultants working together to deliver game-changing digital solutions for leading clients in Canada, and around the world.
An immigrant to Canada, Sam moved to Victoria in 2013. He holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree (Entrepreneurship) from the University of Victoria, as well as a Bachelor’s degree (Engineering in information Technology) from the Shri GS Institute of Technology and Science. He has been recognized with numerous acknowledgements and accolades, including The Globe and Mail Top 50 Changemakers in Canada award (2022), Spirit of Ali award (2021), RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant and Top Entrepreneur award (2019) and the BC Business 30 Under 30 award (2019). Alongside his FreshWorks co-founder, Sam also won the Small Business BC Best Immigrant Entrepreneur award (2018), Douglas Magazine 10ToWatch award (2017) and a Chamber of Commerce New Business award (2017). He is a sought-after speaker who speaks passionately about diversity, inclusion, technology, entrepreneurship, grit, leadership and humility.
