Hiu Tung is a Tax partner serving organizations in the financial services sector from Toronto.

Backed by over 18 years of industry experience, including 16 years in Canadian corporate income tax at EY, Hiu Tung has in-depth knowledge of the taxation of financial institutions.

She has worked with life insurers, property casualty insurers and mortgage insurers, informed by a deep understanding of their business and regulatory landscapes, including their tax implications. She focuses on Canadian domestic taxation and tax accounting. With prolific experience, Hiu Tung provides a wide range of tax advisory services to financial institutions, including corporate tax planning and restructurings, financing, cross-border structuring, and Pillar 2.  She also supports financial institutions in tax for both buy-side and sell-side due diligence. In a fully bilingual, French and English capacity, Hiu Tung supports EY clients across Canada.

Hiu Tung has been an instructor for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ In-Depth Tax Program. She has presented on various Canadian corporate income tax topics for the CPA Québec Continuing Education Program and is a regular speaker for tax conferences held by the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.

A graduate of McGill University, Hiu Tung has a Master of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. She is a member of the CPA Order and CFA Order and holds a US CPA designation.
