Moriaki Kida is the Chairperson and CEO of EY Japan and the EY Regional Managing Partner, EY Japan, effective 1 July 2021. He was appointed EY Regional Chief Operating Officer (COO), EY Japan, in 2019 and for three years prior to that, EY Japan Deputy Area Managing Partner. He oversaw operations of EY’s four service lines and, in both roles, was a driving force in the transformation and growth of the Japan practice. He is a board member of EY Strategy and Consulting Co., Ltd. (Japan), and a member of the EY Asia-Pacific Area Operating Executive and several EY Global boards.
Until 2016, he was the Director of Japanese Business Services (JBS) for EY Americas, based in New York, providing professional services to Japanese companies operating in the Americas.
After joining EY in 1996, he has served Japanese and American multinational clients in the US and in Europe. From 2010 to 2013, he served as a partner in the Professional Practice Group in London, where he provided assurance services to foreign private issuers. He also served as an instructor on the subject of US GAAP and GAAS.
He is a leader for diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives related to gender, LGBT+, and those with diverse ability and cultural backgrounds. He is also the Global Executive Sponsor of Unity, EY’s LGBT+ network, and is featured repeatedly in the global “OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Model Lists” alongside many other multinational C-suite leaders. He is a member of the Global and Asia-Pacific D&I Steering Committees. He serves as an advisor to several non-profit organizations (NPOs) in Japan.
Moriaki Kida holds a Master of Sciences in Business Administration (Accounting) from the San Francisco State University’s College of Business, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of California, Irvine.
