EY Unity

Unity is a global EY network for LGBT+ people and their allies: people who believe in visibility and inclusion of LGBT+ people and play an active role in bringing that to life in the workplace.

Everyone should feel able to bring their true self to work and feel safe and supported to thrive, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. When everyone feels safe to fully be themselves, we all benefit from greater diversity of thought, innovation and engagement.

Who are we?

Unity is EY Oceania's longest established employee network, balancing fun and belonging with purpose and social change.

Our Unity network members are passionate about driving change, whether that's running LGBT+ awareness training and hosting clients at our fabulous Mardi Gras party, or advocating for marriage equality and putting an end to conversion therapy.

Unity continues to evolve through the engagement and experiences of its members, and we're always looking for fresh ways to amplify voices, lead bold conversations, and engage with a wider audience. Every single voice in the LGBT+ community is honoured and appreciated, and we want to hear yours.

That's how the Unity network is building a better working rainbow world and we'd love you to be a part of it!

Impact Initiatives

The EY Unity network is strategically focused on making a positive impact in the wider LGBT+ community and using our platform to advance LGBT+ inclusion in the places where we live and work. The following videos highlight two such recent initiatives: our She Starts Out program to support LGBT+ women entrepreneurs and our focus on elevating senior out role models as a means of empowering future LGBT+ leaders.

She Starts Out

Our dedicated program to support LGBT+ women social impact entrepreneurs through mentoring and business clinics. EY people demonstrate their allyship to this community by contributing their time, skills and experience through the EY Ripples program.

Future LGBT+ Leaders Wavespace

An interactive workshop held jointly in our EY Sydney and Auckland wavespaces to identify the barriers to bi+ inclusion and collaborate with many other large organisations to come up with potential actions to improve the experience of bi+ people in the workplace.

Unity Mentoring Program

An opportunity for Unity members (both allies and members of the LGBT+ community) to mentor LGBT+ identifying junior people, providing guidance on professional development, self-awareness, leadership skills and more.

IDAHOTB Global 24-hour marathon

A global EY Unity 24-hour content marathon for IDAHOTB day, starting in New Zealand and following the sun to San Francisco. Each Unity chapter created an online session which was made available to all EY people around the world. In Oceania, we featured our key initiatives: She Starts Out and Bi+ inclusion.

Supporting trans and gender diverse candidates through EY’s recruitment process

We understand it can be daunting for candidates to disclose their LGBT+ identity when applying for a job - especially if they're transgender or non-binary. EY fully supports people to bring their whole selves to work, but if you would like to talk to someone specifically about how your sexual orientation or gender identity will be handled through the recruitment process, please contact InclusiveRecruitment@au.ey.com.
