Yuriko Sato is the EY Japan General Counsel (GC), appointed in July 2021.
Joining the firm in 2019, she served as Senior Legal Counsel in her prior role. Working alongside EY’s global general counsel, she is strengthening and expanding the legal support system for EY Japan.
She has been bengoshi (Japanese-qualified attorney) since 2003, and she built her early career in the financial markets, corporate and healthcare sectors at a major Japanese law firm.
She then became an in-house counsel initially in the healthcare industry and later working for 10 years in a Japanese corporation.
Pioneering the launch of products outside the scope of the existing Japanese legal framework, she has deep insight into the relationship between laws and regulation, business growth, and risk management. Her international experience includes working in the legal function at the Swiss headquarters of a global corporation.
Yuriko Sato is a graduate of the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law.
