Under the Apprentices Act, 1961 organizations with 30 or more employees are required to engage 2.5% to 15% of their workforce as apprentices. The Apprentices Act, related rules and schemes provide detailed guidelines for organizations on the engagement of apprentices including the duration of engagement, stipend payable, trades or courses under which apprentices can be engaged, incentives available to the organizations etc.
