Richard is the Managing Partner for the South East region and the Reading office. With over 30 partners and 1,000 staff representing all disciplines across offices in Reading, Southampton, Cambridge and Luton, and serves clients ranging from Fortune 50 global players through to the fastest growing entrepreneurial companies.

Richard’s responsibilities include leading the execution of EY’s strategy in the region, many aspects of the people agenda including senior level recruitment, talent development and engagement, as well as go to market activities.

Before taking on this role in 2015, he had spent most of his EY career as a Global Client Service Partner in the Telecoms and Media sector where he was responsible for all aspects of EY’s relationships with mainly FTSE250 multinational companies.

Before joining EY in 1998, Richard spent over 10 years in the IT industry in a range of roles associated with outsourcing and systems integration.

Richard studied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Manchester.

How Richard is building a better working world

Richard is a strong advocate for the Thames Valley regional economy and is an active voice in the business community – actively participating in debates and sharing his perspectives. He also commissioned an EY report on the Thames Valley in 2018 and has been influential in driving increased engagement with the region’s politicians.

Related to this, Richard is passionate about the talent agenda and the need for the region to develop its workforce of the future – re-skilling the current workforce and inspiring the workforce of the future through business engagement with students, including those from under-privileged backgrounds.
