Jono Pooch’s entrepreneurial journey began with a profound passion for sustainability and combating climate change. In 2011, he founded DETA Consulting Ltd with a vision to create a business that makes a significant environmental impact. His early recognition of the need for sustainability set the stage for DETA to become a pioneering force in decarbonisation and energy efficiency.
DETA’s mission is to remove two million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere by 2030. This ambitious goal is driven by delivering tangible outcomes, rather than just having conversations that go around in circles. Under Jono’s leadership, DETA has become Australasia's largest consultancy for transitioning to a low-carbon future, offering services in energy management, decarbonisation strategy, and project delivery.
Jono’s courage and resilience have led DETA through various challenges, including expanding into Australia and investing in new areas like supply chain decarbonisation. Over the past five years, DETA has expanded to 58 employees, and established six offices across Australasia, all self-funded.
To date, DETA has helped clients reduce carbon emissions by 200,000 tonnes annually and his participation in global forums like COP28 underscores his influence in the sector. Currently, Jono continues to steer DETA toward its 2030 goals, exploring new markets and innovative solutions.
