Regional Pressures to Decarbonise
The Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021 in Ireland set a legally-binding carbon reduction target of 51% for 2030 and Net Zero by 2050. Sustainability professionals, business operational leaders and business owners alike are now all under the same urgency to transform to low-carbon business models.
The acceleration of the Net Zero agenda in the UK with all listed companies and financial services obliged to disclose Net Zero plans by 2023 (agreed at COP26), will also impact Irish companies doing business in the UK.
The opportunities are great, with the European Green Deal catalysing a trillion euro to transform the EU-27 into a low-carbon economy within a decade and into the world's first carbon-neutral economic bloc by 2050.
EY’s Response
EY has developed EY Carbon to bring companies on a Net Zero transformation journey from strategy planning and transformation, to measurement and reporting.
