Willem Jan Vermeer is specialized in tax advice for family businesses and helps both the company and the family. Is also an expert in the area of management participations.
He studied fiscal economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and has worked at EY since 1995. In addition to his work at EY, he is a guest lecturer at Erasmus University (Business Succession) and Nyenrode Business University (Carried Interest).
“Management participations, mergers, acquisitions, real estate investments: all subjects on which I advise the company. But the position of the family is naturally unique. I'm there to assist them, too. For example, on issues relating to business succession or the structuring of assets. I assemble the right team, with experts who are familiar with specific subjects. And the result… that's what counts, of course. We strive for flexibility, not straitjackets. A solution needs to develop in parallel with different scenarios the company may face.”
How Willem Jan is building a better working world
“Family businesses have a special role in our society. What they do has an impact on everyone around them: customers, employees and, in fact, the entire community. They don't just work for themselves. They realize that, and that's why they aim for sustainable value creation. I believe in that too. That's why I feel it's important to invest in long-term relationships.”
