Healthcare institutions are not looking for an accountant per se, but rather for someone who can think strategically.

Rob Leensen

EY Netherlands Partner Assurance; Sector Leader Health and Life Sciences

Connects people. Innovative. People-oriented. He likes to think a couple of steps ahead in order to see how to future-proof the healthcare sector.

Rob Leensen is an accountant and sparring partner to leading healthcare organizations in the Netherlands.

He studied Business Economics and Accountancy at Erasmus University, Rotterdam. He has worked at EY since 2000, and has more than twenty years’ experience in the Dutch healthcare sector. In addition to his work at EY, he is chair of the “Coziek” commission of the Royal Dutch Institute of Chartered Accountants (NBA).

“Healthcare organizations are not looking for an accountant per se, as you simply have to have one at some stage. They want a sparring partner; someone who thinks together with the management board and the supervisory board. For example, about lessening the administrative burden, which is a very hot topic. I can bring all of this experience to the “Coziek” committee too, where we can really help the healthcare sector as a whole.”

How Rob is building a better working world

“Sharing knowledge and innovating fills me with energy. At EY, I do this, amongst others, by using the Dutch Healthcare Barometer and by helping my clients meet the challenges they face. Externally, from Coziek, I place topics on the agenda that are current issues for key stakeholders in the healthcare sector. From horizontal supervision to lessening the administrative burden and reducing control costs. The interface between EY, healthcare and the profession makes my work really absorbing. Every single day.”
