Peter van Dijk is an accountant and trusted business advisor to medium-sized companies, especially family businesses.
He studied business economics in Alkmaar, qualified as a chartered accountant at NIVRA/Nyenrode and has worked for EY since 1994. In addition to his work at EY, he is president of the local soccer team.
“As an accountant, I occasionally actually meet with family entrepreneurs in their homes. From my natural advisory role, I like to look beyond the figures and really get to know people. I also want to get clients in the mindset of: what needs to be done today to positively influence the future? I always maintain the balance between the financial and human aspects. What drives a person, what emotions are involved? Entrepreneurs appreciate that.”
How Peter is building a better working world
“Accountants are the stewards of society. Certainly within EY, we possess so much knowledge with which we can be even more influential in societal discussions. I therefore consider it important to stand with both feet firmly planted in society and transfer my knowledge to people in a clear, simple way.”
