Gregor Bertens is secretary of Ernst & Young Tax Advisers LLP and as such the management’s right-hand man.
He studied History and Dutch Law at the University of Leiden and has been working at EY since 2001. Prior to that, he worked as a staff lawyer at the Dutch Council of State, and as executive secretary at an advisory organization.
“You can think of me as the spider in the web of regulations behind the scenes. I keep our managers on their toes so that they can make the right decisions at the right time. In addition, I’m also a point of contact within the organization, both for colleagues and clients. What do I do if I can’t answer the question myself? Then I pass it on to the right people within EY.”
How Gregor is building a better working world
“While EY is increasingly made up of specialists, I’m really a generalist who deals with all kinds of management aspects in a professional, complex organization. HR, promotions, communication, operations, marketing, quality...... These things keep me busy every day. Just the variety keeps my work dynamic and fascinating.”
