GDPR Fundamentals

On 25th May 2018, the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force.  The GDPR has presented organisations with numerous and onerous obligations earmarked to enhance organisations’ accountability and protect the personal data of data subjects.  The GDPR also provides data subjects with new rights to ensure transparency in the manner organisations collect, store, process and transmit personal data.  The GDPR has led organisations to revise their current procedures and contracts, provide training to all employees, conduct privacy impact assessments and revisit and enhance their existing controls.

This workshop:
- Explains key GDPR terminology
- Defines data controllers vs. data processors
- Highlights the data processing principles advocated by the GDPR
- Provides an overview of the key obligations emanating from the GDPR
- Defines a data breach and the obligations of data controllers and data processors in the case of a data breach incident; and
- Provides an overview of data subject rights and the processing of subject access requests.
This workshop is targeted at all employees handling or processing personal data within organisations to help them understand their role in ensuring that the organisations they represent comply with their obligations in terms of the GDPR.
The course outline shown below is illustrative and can be fully tailored to your specific company and industry. The sessions can be held virtually or in-person and will be scheduled according to your requirements.
