EY establishes EY.ai global AI advisory council with IIT Bombay's Sunita Sarawagi as a member

New Delhi, 03 December 2024: EY, the leading professional services organization has announced the establishment of the EY.ai global AI advisory council. The council will provide critical insights on AI advancements, societal implications, and innovative applications to help the global EY network, and clients stay ahead of the curve.

Driving global impact with a local perspective

The council comprises globally diverse set of industry and civil society leaders, including AI-focused researchers, entrepreneurs, academics, ethicists and policy professionals. This significant initiative features the inclusion of Sunita Sarawagi, computer science professor and founding head of the Center for Machine Intelligence and Data Science (CMInDS) at IIT Bombay.

She is renowned for her contributions to AI, ML, and data science, and joins an elite group of industry leaders, academics, and policymakers on the council. Her involvement will help guide the organization in driving impactful AI innovation and ethical deployment for its clients.

The council members will provide insights into AI trends and their human implications, guiding governments and organizations on structuring and restructuring their models. The council will work across three core domains:

  1. Directing AI development and deployment within the EY organization and its affiliated entities across the globe by sharing insights on how the technology is developing, including breakthroughs and emerging risks.
  2. Helping EY professionals serve their clients’ transformations and how they deploy AI in their organizations, as well as assessing the EY organization on broader AI powered industry transformation and verticalization.
  3. Working to address global challenges through innovative uses of AI, including climate change, health and wellness, education, the digital divide, or access to tools by marginalized groups and societies, etc., while also working to mitigate risks to people and society.
