Mr. Pirojsha Godrej has redefined the contours of the real estate industry, infusing sustainability and strategic innovation into the foundations of urban development. As Executive Chairman of Godrej Properties Ltd (GPL), he a rare strategic leader leading the growth of a company through innovative approaches in joint ventures and capital models, with focus on efficiency and on-time project launches.
An alumnus of the Wharton Business School and Columbia Business School, the fourth-generation scion joined GPL in 2004, served as MD and CEO between 2012 and 2017 before being appointed as Executive Chairman. He has spearheaded strategic land acquisitions and expanded operations into key markets, including Mumbai, NCR, Pune, and Bengaluru, and eventually to Hyderabad and Indore in FY24.
Mr. Godrej’s visionary approach includes a sharp focus on partnerships with global initiatives. Under his continued guidance, the company’s green certified project portfolio went from 94.97% in FY23 to 100% in FY24, with green homes increased by 35% to 117 million sq. ft.
Led by Mr. Godrej’s relentless pursuit excellence, the company has raised INR6,000 crore through issuance of financial securities. Mr. Godrej envisions GPL as one of the top sustainable real estate companies in India. To turn his vision into reality, he has fostered collaborations with designers and architects around the globe. The company, which became carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions in FY20, is committed to further reduce its carbon emissions and ensure that 88% of its suppliers adopt Science-based Targets Initiative by FY26.
In addition, to strengthen the social foundation as well, he supports activities to improve the wellbeing of children. Social protection of construction workers is close to his heart and Mr. Godrej aims to provide access to entitlements and well-being for 200,000 construction workers.
