Mr. Kamesh Goyal, Founder and Chairman of Go Digit General Insurance Ltd, has revolutionized the insurance sector in India through innovation, customer-centricity, and digital transformation. Under his leadership, Digit became a unicorn within just six years, emerging as one of India’s first fully cloud-based insurers.
Bold in approach, Mr. Goyal took a leap into entrepreneurship at the age of 50, leaving behind a successful corporate career to build something transformative. With over 35 years of industry expertise, he founded Go Digit General Insurance in 2016, driven by a vision to simplify insurance through digital innovation. An alum of St. Stephen’s College and FMS in Delhi, he had previously led Bajaj Allianz General and Life Insurance.
A hunger to provide a more meaningful experience, especially to new-age customers, he emphasized on some key areas — reducing infrastructure costs while enhancing efficiency by leveraging technology. Mr. Goyal rapidly expanded Go Digit’s ecosystem through strategic API integrations, while using AI, machine learning and image recognition to automate claims processing. By FY24, the company had settled 1.96 million claims.
Mr. Goyal’s relentless pursuit of customer-centricity is driving the company’s growth in motor, health, travel, home, and shop insurance. His technology-first model has revolutionized claims processing, making it faster than traditional methods. The company’s net profits grew five-fold to INR182 crore in FY24, driven by higher investment income and cost optimizations. Mr. Goyal crossed a key milestone in May 2024 with an IPO listing on the NSE and BSE.
Mr. Goyal is also passionate about creating awareness about insurance. The company also champions CSR efforts in education, employment, and sustainability, while advancing its goal of becoming paperless. True to his digital vision, Mr. Goyal remains committed to harnessing technology to make insurance simple, accessible, and customer friendly.
