From the boardroom to the assembly line, Dr Anish Shah has reshaped the Mahindra Group over 10 years, bringing Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Mahindra Finance, Mahindra Logistics, and other key entities under a shared vision for the future.
When he took over as Managing Director and CEO in 2021, the stakes were high, but he was clear in his vision — building synergies across group companies and driving growth. A doctorate from Carnegie Mellon and an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad, he brought nearly three decades of expertise in strategy and transformation. As Group Strategy President, his emphasis was on expansion, championing digitization, and strengthening data science capabilities. Under his dynamic leadership, M&M’s revenues went up 24% CAGR between FY22 and FY24.
Widely acknowledged as an ace strategist and relationship builder, he has led the group to dominant positions is key auto markets, including both new and traditional segments. In the highly competitive E3W market, for example, the group holds more than half the market share and nearly half in light commercial vehicles. With Dr. Shah steering the course, the auto division to achieving its highest-ever annual sales of 825,000 units in FY24. Today, Mahindra Group operates in over 100 countries with 150+ companies.
One of the pillars of his strategic blueprint has been innovation. The group has committed INR 37,000 crore (FY25-27) for innovation to develop 26 new models or facelifts by 2030 and scale up the international farm business by 1.6 times by FY26.
Dr. Shah’s vision of building a truly future-ready organization is defined by sustainable growth. Putting it into action, the group has not only increased renewable energy use to 33% in FY24 but also continues to expand initiatives to support women empowerment, skill training, and agricultural advancement, , benefiting more than 1.5 million individuals, over 50% of whom are women and girls.
With an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure and a unique ability to forge long-standing relationships, Dr. Shah continues to design a bold roadmap for the Mahindra group's future.
