EY advises SimpleSite on the sale to PE backed group.ONE

The parent company of one.com, group.ONE which is backed by private equity firm Cinven, strengthens its position by acquiring the Danish headquartered easy-to-use website building software SimpleSite.

Founded in 2003 by Morten Elk and his brother, SimpleSite is the website platform upon which more than 30 million websites has been built. After 20 years Morten Elk and the rest of the investors behind the company have sold the company to Group.ONE.

Group.ONE is the parent company of One.com and continues its buy and build strategy with its tenth acquisition. SimpleSite's position as a simple and easy-to-use website builder is a perfect fit for Group.ONE which serves more than 1.5 million customers globally through its 10 customer facing brands.

Morten Elk, CEO and founder of SimpleSite says: “SimpleSite and one.com share the same commitment to keeping things simple and making it easy for non-technical users to go online. I therefore firmly believe that we, with One.com, have found a good long term home for our customers.

I'm very happy with the outcome which is the result of a very professionally run process by Thomas, Rasmus, Johan and the rest of the team. They impressed me with their deep tech sector knowledge and deal-making skills.”

“We are very proud of the trust Morten and the owner group put in our team. Most of us have built our first website on Mortens platform and it has been a pleasure to work with Morten and his team to find a good home for the platform going forward,” says Thomas Tofte, Partner at EY.
