Marlies de Ruiter assists businesses in applying international taxation policy developments to their tax policy, governance and communication.
She studied fiscal economics at Erasmus University and has been working at EY since 2016. Prior to this, she worked at the OESO and the Finance Ministry. In addition to her work at EY, she is a board member of the IFA.
“The world of taxation is also changing at a breathtaking pace. As a trendwatcher of sorts, I also closely follow all developments, for example in the EU, OESO or the IMF. But I also bring a private sector perspective. I talk intensively with both sides, so that I can gain an overall picture of new international taxation developments. There’s a sense of urgency when tensions arise. Where’s it all heading? What’s relevant to businesses? And what can I offer them as points of reference?”
How Marlies is building a better working world
“I travel all over the world; I definitely spend half the week abroad. I talk with all parties, which is what makes the work so interesting and varied. From OESO to family businesses and stock exchange-listed companies. In small and big countries. Everyone has their own perspective, and the coalescence provides the context for new trends and policy. The great thing is that in this way I can help to shape the future.”
