Zhou Lihan is the Co-founder and CEO of Mirxes, a ribonucleic acid (RNA) centric biotechnological company that seeks to detect cancer early and save lives through early, actionable and personalized diagnosis. Zhou oversees the company’s overall strategy and global operations in Singapore, China, Japan, Southeast Asia and the United States with a team of more than 300 staff members.  

Prior to founding Mirxes in 2014, Zhou was a research scientist at the Bioprocessing Technology Institute, A*STAR. At the institute, he co-developed a novel assay platform for microRNA biomarker and therapeutic target discovery. As a scientist and entrepreneur, Zhou is driving groundbreaking RNA research and actively champions a global ecosystem and standards to accelerate clinical adoption of RNA diagnostics.  

Under Zhou’s leadership, Mirxes was named Singapore’s Most Promising Start-up in 2016 and Singapore’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Mirxes has successfully raised around US$180 million in venture funding since 2016 — among the highest raised by an Asia based genomics company.  

Zhou has authored and co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and several patent applications.

Zhou is EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2022 Singapore and is featured in the EY documentary, The Unstoppables 3.
