Carsten Koerl uses data and technology to reimagine the intersection of sports, media and betting.

Carsten Koerl has spent decades leading the global sports betting and entertainment industry into the digital era. Since he founded Sportradar in 2001, he has driven its growth from a startup to a global leader in providing sports data and technology services. His deep knowledge in sports technology, betting and gaming provides him with an unmatched perspective that has helped grow his business.

Sportradar uses data, content and technology to offer betting operators the products and services they need to manage their sportsbook, while also helping to keep the industry clean by using AI to detect and prevent fraud, doping and match fixing. Media companies use its tools and insights to engage with fans, and sports teams, leagues and federations get access to the data and content they need to serve their customers.

Today, Carsten’s business serves over 1,700 clients in more than 120 countries, employs more than 3,900 and is publicly listed on NASDAQ. Its investors include CPP Investments and TCV, as well as leaders in the sports industry such as Michael Jordan, Ted Leonsis, Todd Boehly and Mark Cuban.

Prior to launching Sportradar, he founded the online betting platform Betandwin Interactive Entertainment in 1997. Bwin, rebranded after the initial public offering, offered sports betting, poker, casino games and other skill games. Carsten led the company through a successful listing on the Vienna stock market in 2000.

Founding a company is an all-consuming and challenging process. From initial conception to eventual execution, it is important to trust your instincts.
