George Gerardos started his company as a university student, when he spotted an opportunity to supply fellow students with more affordable office supplies. He began to sell drawing products and scientific equipment, sourcing directly from manufacturers to eliminate the large markups of intermediaries — an unprecedented business model in 1969. Fast-forward 53 years, and Plaisio Computers is a nationwide retail chain recognized for its innovative technology products, office supplies, smart-home solutions and home appliances.
Since its founding, the company has grown to serve the needs of its expanding consumer base. In 1985, George was early to capitalize on the home computer market by creating the TURBO-X, an affordable PC built to customer specifications.
Always quick to adapt to market changes, George is constantly expanding Plaisio’s product range well beyond computers and office supplies. In 1995, he was once again ahead of the curve when he developed an omnichannel sales and distribution model that included the introduction of a contact center and next-day delivery service.
Today, Plaisio is listed on the Athens Stock Exchange and is a household name in Greece with over 1,500 staff, a network of retail outlets and an e-store.
