Former college principal Hélio Bruck Rotenberg is committed to getting affordable computers into Brazilian homes and schools. In the late 1980s, he answered the demand of the local market and founded Positivo Tecnologia to offer technology products to families and institutions across Brazil. The company has produced more than 40 million devices since its foundation, conquering the market of computers priced at US$500 and less.
To date, he has equipped millions of people with computers, and Positivo Tecnologia is one of the country’s largest technology hardware manufacturers. Despite the challenges of operating in the Brazilian economy and the added global shortage of semiconductors due to the pandemic, revenue increased by 54% from 2020 to 2021.
A profound determination to enhance people’s lives through technology solutions drives Hélio’s constant expansion of the company’s offerings to include new products, such as mobile payment terminals and smart home devices. Positivo Tecnologia supports startups in everything from electromobility to agriculture and has also developed a voting machine that will be used in the upcoming Brazilian elections.
Hélio is particularly passionate about improving education through the creative use of technology. By developing and distributing innovative teaching solutions, the company helps transform classrooms into stimulating learning environments. Its adaptive teaching software is also used by the Amazonian government to support children’s learning. Today, Positivo Tecnologia’s educational technologies are used in more than 14,000 schools across 40 countries.
