On 6 February 2024, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that employers and foreign nationals must complete the residence permit application procedures within 30 days of their arrival in Qatar. Previously, employers and foreign nationals were required to complete the residence permit application procedures within three months of the individual’s arrival in Qatar. This period has now been reduced to 30 days. The MoI added that failure to adhere to the new requirement can lead to a penalty of QAR 10,000 (approx. USD 2,740).
