As announced on the official website of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 15 May 2024, the UAE Cabinet has introduced a new long-term visa called "Blue Residency" for foreign nationals who have made "exceptional contributions and efforts" toward protecting the environment. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, announced the introduction of the Blue Residency Visa at a cabinet meeting in Abu Dhabi, adding that the introduction of the visa is in line with the UAE's plans to recognize 2024 as the year of sustainability in the country.
