  • The holistic suite of tools will make use of existing EY solutions and drive chemical companies to utilize technologies optimally and prepare for the future
  • Solution allows companies to improve processes seamlessly and drive digital enablement

EY today announced the launch of the EY Intelligent Chemicals Solution (ICS), to support chemical companies with innovative technologies across the value chain and help prepare their businesses for the future through digital transformation.

Based on the latest version of SAP S/4HANA® Cloud, ICS covers key chemical processes including: Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling; Sales and Service; Finance; Procurement; Enterprise Asset Management; Multi-resource Scheduling; and Environment, Health and Safety Management.

The solution combines a rich industry reference model, key performance indicators and benchmarks, risk controls, test scripts, and demos mapped to the SAP® Best Practices for Chemicals package and cross-industry best practices.

Jade Rodysill, EY Americas Chemicals and Advanced Materials Industry Leader, says: “ICS allows companies to improve processes seamlessly and drive digital enablement. Customers who want to redesign key functions and processes can now configure a model in a matter of days. Using a decoupled, two-stage approach, ICS allows EY and SAP to work on a company’s methods, data, and operating model. The solution’s unique value proposition offers the ability to map a company’s business and operating models to a technical one, built in EY’s environment, test it, and port it to a customer’s environment.”

According to the latest EYDigiChem survey of sector leaders, more than 80% of chemical players are placing as much importance on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) issues and sustainability as on revenue growth; and digital solutions are expected to be at the forefront of this effort. The biggest challenge respondents outlined is access to a robust technical infrastructure (40%), followed by investment requirements (38%) and the need to develop secure systems (38%).

ICS clearly identifies the strategic intent and framework needed to help maximize the value of SAP S/4HANA® Cloud while gaining organization alignment. The solution is designed to accelerate critical business transformations, bringing leading practice processes to clients to help optimize costs and enhance revenues. ICS also improves program design by taking an experience-led approach to workshops utilizing the embedded EY industry model. A value-focused delivery approach aims to maximize adherence to standards advanced by SAP, supporting the reuse of selected components of legacy systems (e.g., forms or interfaces) and the redesign of only those processes that require it.

ICS is complemented by an extensive suite of chemical-specific innovations available for clients, such as real-time inventory management and material valuation, effective order management and billing, accelerated material requirements planning, embedded extended warehouse management, integrated quality management and consistent use of the SAP Fiori® SAP S/4HANA user experience.
