EY advised Azelis Group in the acquisition of Haarla Oy

Azelis Group acquired Haarla Oy, strengthening its market position in Finland, with EY supporting the transaction.

On November 18, 2024, Azelis Group (listed on Euronext Brussels, Belgium), a leading innovation service provider in the specialty chemicals and food ingredients industry with annual revenue of EUR 4.2bn in FY23, announced the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Haarla Oy, a specialty distributor of food ingredients and industrial chemicals.

Haarla Oy, headquartered in Tampere, Finland, has a foothold in the food ingredients market and various industrial chemicals segments, with customers operating mainly in the Nordics.

The transaction indicates a consistent step for Azelis in expanding its market presence and service offerings in the Nordics and wider EMEA region. Haarla Oy brings a diversified base of customers and longstanding business relationships with renowned principals, complementing Azelis’ existing principal partnerships. By integrating Haarla Oy’s established customers and strong market position, Azelis can leverage new growth opportunities and enhance its cross-selling activities, ultimately providing a more comprehensive and innovative portfolio to its customers.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2024, after the fulfillment of customary closing conditions.

EY supported Azelis comprehensively during the transaction process by providing Financial, Tax, and all Transaction Law services, such as contract negotiations, competition, and employment. The transaction highlights EY’s leading capabilities to serve clients as a one-stop-shop for first-class advisory services in various M&A topics.
