EY Scout: Insights on International Accounting

​In the IFRS update in our last EY Scout of the year, we traditionally provide an overview of the key changes to IFRS relevant to the 2023 financial statements. In addition to the amendment to IAS 1 regarding material accounting policy information already presented in September, other amendments also have become mandatory since this year.

For the second part of the event we will focus on ESG reporting. We have discussed the regulatory requirements in various past events, so we are now focusing on the topics of data, systems, processes and internal control systems.

Given the fast pace of regulations entities oftentimes first focus on being able to report the required data and only now start to also build processes and controls around these data reporting processes. However, we believe implementing robust processes and controls (enabled through systems) should be the next area to focus on. And choosing a suitable ESG Data Management Tool can be an even more critical decision for those companies seeking to embrace sustainability beyond reporting, looking to equip themselves with tools for data-driven business steering. We will share an overview of the ESG technology landscape today as well as how you can leverage your existing control systems to ESG reporting.
