Koen is a Partner in the Tax practice for the Financial Services in Belgium. He is an accredited tax advisor.

Koen has over 20 years  of experience with financial services tax matters. He started his career at an international law firm and spent over 7 years in the industry working as a tax advisor and head of tax.

Koen operates across all areas of tax but his primary focus for more than 20 years has been on operational taxes (withholding and transaction taxes, FATCA/CRS and QI). He is an MDR/DAC6 subject matter expert. Koen has experience with large implementation and compliance verification projects working with financial institutions established all over the globe.

He has a Law Degree from the Catholic University of Leuven and a Master of Law (LL.M.) in International Finance and Tax Law from the University of London.

When explaining tax requirements to clients I try to complement the advice given with actionable recommendations and implementation options that ensure regulatory compliance whilst considering operational impacts and customer experience.
