In Singapore, Dr. Zhou Lihan cofounded the biotech startup MiRXES in 2014 with a goal of saving at least one life. When it comes to diseases like cancer, Lihan says, “Early detection is no longer optional. It’s a necessity.” MiRXES has seized on advances in human genome sequencing to become the world leader in RNA-based early cancer detection.

 

For Lihan, passion, purpose and mission are the same. His passion continues to inspire those around him, as you’ll see in the entrepreneurship documentary.

E-commerce beauty unicorn – Falguni Nayar

 

After a successful career in banking, Falguni Nayar, a self-described “adventurer at heart” took on a new adventure: starting an e-commerce beauty company. Today, Nykaa sells beauty, wellness and fashion products, and in 2020 it became the first unicorn in India founded by a woman.

 

Falguni’s family is an important part of Nykaa’s success. “They’ve been the big support system that has allowed me to blossom,” she says. Her son and daughter both have important roles at the company, and in the documentary, they share how their mother’s ability to see limitless possibility inspires Nykaa’s employees and customers.

Argentina’s Gaston Taratuta, the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2022, used his knowledge of sales to unlock internet advertising for developing markets and create a digital juggernaut. That company is Aleph, enabling advertisers in 90 emerging countries to connect with consumers. 

 

In the entrepreneurship documentary, Gaston’s longtime friend and current chief operations officer shares how their deal with Netflix to access the Latin American market changed the destiny of their company. As Gaston says, it was a prime example of “balancing people who are afraid to make a mistake with those who are afraid to miss an opportunity.”
