Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the world in unprecedented ways. From natural language processing to computer vision, from self-driving cars to smart assistants, AI is creating new possibilities and challenges for human society. But how will AI affect the world of work, and what are the implications for organisations, leaders and workers?

In this series, we explore the impact of the explosion of new generative technologies on the world of work, including organisational, leadership and workforce implications. We examine the current state and future trends of AI applications across different domains and industries, and analyse how they will shape the skills, roles and tasks of the workforce.

The series consists of four articles, each focusing on a different aspect of AI and its impact on people and work.

Article 1: Will AI change the world for good, or just change it?

In the first article in our series, we discuss a short history of the evolution of technology, its impact on society, the lessons learnt, as well as the opportunities and challenges new technologies present, particularly their impact on people and work.

Article 2: Which are you skilling faster – your people or your AI?

In the second article we explore the scale and nature of task and job disruption that generative AI (GenAI) will present. It is evident that the complexity and sequencing of this change is going to be hard to navigate but we cannot sit on the sidelines and wait to see what happens.

Article 3: How can you prepare now for the work of the future?

In the third article we look at how GenAI can transform learning and asked the question, how do you help people learn AI at the speed of AI? We consider the practical approaches organisations can take now, next and beyond to ensure they remain competitive in this volatile market.

Article 4: How will humans@centre transform your outcomes?

In the final article of the series, we step back and reflect on the overarching transformation journey that comes with the adoption of GenAI technology across organisations. Anchored around our humans@centre research, we outline a framework for organisations to consider as they navigate the opportunities and challenges GenAI brings.
