EY Partner experience

Kim Laubscher, a Partner in Data and Analytics, Technology Consulting at EY in Melbourne shares her EY partner journey.

A career in technology

I have spent my career working in technology and data and analytics across various businesses, in both the transport and finance sectors before moving to lead and scale a data and analytics consultancy.

In 2019, I joined EY as a Director working across government and health and human services. I am incredibly passionate about this sector as doing work that provides value back to the community is very important to me. I was excited to join EY as it has a strong reputation in the market, and found the breadth and complexity of the work appealing. The ability to utilise multi-disciplinary teams and leverage capabilities across the organisation allows us to produce better solutions for our clients.

Becoming an EY partner

After being in my Director role for some time, I was approached for a role as a Partner. The process took several months and encouraged me to think beyond the daily running of our engagements and teams, and consider not just my achievements, but a future strategy for myself, EY and our clients. This meant identifying the difference I want to make, what I can contribute, what work I want to do in the future, how I want to deliver client value, and build and lead high-performing DnA teams.

I felt very coached and supported throughout the process.

Getting the news that I made partner was fantastic. It took a while to sink in; it wasn’t until after all the calls and well-wishes from my colleagues, family, friends and clients that I appreciated what a big milestone this is for me and my career.
