EY Thailand’s 2024 Annual Japanese seminar/webinar, held on Tuesday, 10 September 2024 in Bangkok, explored the theme of “Leveraging digital for the future.” The event attracted 90 attendees in-person and virtually, and featured three sessions.
Wichart Lokatekrawee, partner in charge of Thailand Japanese Business Group, together with Takashi Ouchida, Vice Chairman of Ernst & Young ShinNihon LLC, made an opening speech to welcome Japanese executives from diverse industries. The first session, Building digital trust in financial reporting; and Japan’s new lease accounting standard (draft), delivered by Kenji Fujimoto and Toru Anazawa, covered assurance innovation and Japan’s new accounting standard. Empowering digital talent in Thailand was the second topic by Jun Sakurai, offering insights how to design and make digital HR management work for Japanese subsidiaries in Thailand. The third session by Takeshi Hayashibe and Hayato Matsuzaki, Key Thailand tax and legal update and tax controversy trends, provided update on Thailand’s legal and tax landscape. Participants commented that, “The assurance innovation initiatives, lease accounting and other updates on Thailand were very informative.”, “It was helpful to have explanation on the necessary knowledge, such as lease accounting, transfer pricing”, “It was the first time I participated in the seminar. Thank you very much for the very useful explanation.”, etc.
At the venue, EY’s Japanese Publication Desk was set up to distribute various EY publications to Japanese client executives. The morning seminar was followed by nine individual consultation sessions in the afternoon. EY Bangkok’s JBS team, led by Wichart Lokatekrawee, Yupa Wichitkraisorn and Kusuma Vivattanaprasert, has held annual seminars for EY Thailand and EY Japan clients since 2002.
