A historic year for the global economy 

2022 was an historic year for the global economy with multiple headwinds including geopolitical uncertainty, inflationary shocks and monetary tightening impacting all aspects of the financial sector, M&A included.

In a year in which Global and European deal values fell by 36% and 34% respectively, the Romanian M&A market recorded 258 transactions with a total estimated value of USD 6.6bn, representing a 10% increase compared to 2021 and making Romania a clear market outperformer.
