Sebastiaan Kuijper helps international companies improve their operating model: from raw material to after-sales, fully in line with the business model. Because developments like digitalization and BEPS mean they are under constant pressure to change.
He earned dual bachelor's degrees in business studies and Dutch law and a master's degree in tax law at VU Amsterdam and has worked at EY since 2006. He is also a guest lecturer at VU Amsterdam for the postgraduate courses for controllers and treasurers and a member of the NOB (Dutch Association of Tax Advisors) committee on digital economy.
“The personal click. That's particularly important to me. Only once a good relationship is established can you really understand what a customer needs. Then you also have the rapport to ask critical questions, like ‘what is it you really want to know?’ What is it that you're really after? What are you trying to achieve? I believe that's the way to find the best answers.”
How Sebastiaan is building a better working world
“The best part of my job? Bringing all those points of view together. An answer may be 100% correct from the corporate tax declaration or legal perspective, but it may not work for the business. What counts is the overall answer, from all perspectives: tax, legal, IT, HR, finance, etc. Taken altogether, it must be 100% correct. That calls for creativity and teamwork. And that's more or less the whole idea behind our motto at OME: making businesses work better, together.”
