Dirk Stalenhoef assists companies operating internationally to manage their tax positions. He primarily works for American companies that operate in or through the Netherlands, for example via a head office, logistics organization or regional sales office.
He studied tax law at the University of Amsterdam and has been working at EY since 2001. He is at home in the Life Sciences and Media & Entertainment sectors, and has twice manned the Dutch Desk at EY in New York, first as senior manager (2006-2008) and later as head of department (2011-2015).
“I always come up with practical, creative solutions, and like to look beyond taxation. What else affects taxation? It can span from sales processes to the company’s reputation. I’ve noticed that clients like the fact that you can have a wide-ranging conversation.”
How Dirk is building a better working world
“These kinds of transactions, often related to international trade, are both dynamic and complex. And it’s precisely this complexity that I find so interesting. You always have to look ahead to the world of tomorrow. Teamwork drives me too, both working with the client and within EY, where we work with many young, outstanding professionals.”
