Michael Azzopardi is a Partner at EY, one of the world’s leading professional services organizations, where he leads the technology consulting in Malta. With extensive experience in IT strategy, IT enterprise architecture, computer science and software engineering management he supports organisations in applying best practices to support their business transformation through technology.
He worked for 17 years in Switzerland and the United States before returning to Malta to join EY, gaining valuable experience in enterprise architecture, software development, project management, and technology infrastructure. Michael is a strategic thinker with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. He is known for his ability to work well under pressure and to deliver high-quality results, even in complex and challenging situations. He is also an effective team leader, and his colleagues value his ability to provide guidance and support.
Some of the key projects Michael lead include online banking for international private banking, enterprise mobility strategy, cloud strategy, implementation of enterprise architecture practice in various organisations, modernization of large-scale systems to cloud-first architecture, data platform implementations alongside data management and governance practices.
Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & AI from the University of Malta and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University.
He also completed the IMD Strategic IT Training Program and attained the Software Engineering Institute as a SOA Architect Professional Certificate and Software Architecture Professional Certificate.
He is an IEEE Senior Member, a significant professional achievement for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional technical expertise and experience in their field. It signifies a high level of professional accomplishment and is one of the highest grades of membership that the IEEE offers. He is also an active member IEEE where he serves as Vice Chair of the Malta Computer Society section.
