Nikolay Garnev is the new CESA South Cluster Leader

Nikolay Garnev is EY's new managing partner for the Southern Cluster within the Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and Central Asia region (CESA). This cluster covers nine countries in Southeast Europe – Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Malta, Moldova, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo. There are more than 3,100 employees in the region, and it generates revenue of approximately $280 million.

He will be responsible for the development of EY's operational efficiency, he will be leading transformation initiatives and the execution of the company's NextWave strategy, and will focus on further strengthening the team across the cluster.

“In my new role, I will work hard to continue the successful development and consolidation of EY's position as a leader in the region. I will focus on developing the potential of our team, the partnerships with our clients and other interested parties, in order to achieve the goals of our mission – building a better business world", commented Nikolay Garnev.

Nikolay has over 25 years of experience working with international and local clients in a number of countries in Southeast Europe. He joined the EY family in 2006. His contribution to the growth of EY's audit practice in Bulgaria was significant and in 2013 he was elected EY's managing partner for Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo. He will retain this position in his new role.

Since October 2015 until now, Nikolay Garnev was also the Head of Risk Management for CESA.

He has extensive experience in the field of audit services, consulting on business transactions in many sectors, mostly banking, insurance, real estate and energy. It also has long-standing expertise in the application of International Financial Reporting Standards and other regulatory frameworks.

Nikolay has a master's degree from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK and also of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (IDES) in Bulgaria.
