Ben is a Partner in EY's Strategy and Transactions practice in Oceania, specialising in modelling technical, economic, commercial, regulatory and policy impacts in the energy sector. He is passionate about working with clients on implementing energy transition strategies that align with their decarbonisation and sustainability ambitions.
Ben has extensive knowledge in the planning and operation of multi area electricity supply systems and the commercial frameworks necessary to deliver sustainable investment and value creation. Ben has a nuanced understanding of the operation of power systems, power quality, supply reliability, market operation, renewable energy technologies and energy storage systems.
With over 15 years building a leading energy consultancy prior to joining EY in 2014, Ben brings an array of skills and layered understanding of quantitative evidence to areas of data analytics, investment and operational decision making.
In addition to stakeholder consultation and presentations within Australia and New Zealand, Ben has developed and delivered workshops in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and India on power system operation and the bridge between the physical delivery of energy, and financial markets.
Ben has provided due diligence advice supporting the development of more than a gigawatt of wind and solar generation projects in Australia. He holds bachelor degrees in Electronic Engineering as well as Information Technology. Ben is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
