Tumelo is a Partner in EY. Previously, he was joint-Managing Director at Cova Advisory and Associates – a boutique consulting firm specialising in government grants and incentives, energy efficiency and global trade.

Before Cova, he was the Deputy Director General responsible for the suite of incentives offered by the Department of Trade Industry and Competition (DTIC).

He has served on the Manufacturing Development Board, the boards of the National Empowerment Fund, the Centurion Aerospace Village, the Swedish-South Africa Business Partnership Programme, as well as various adjudication committees for the Department of Trade and Industry's incentive programmes.

Tumelo qualified as a mechanical engineer with a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University in the United States. He holds a MBA from Wits University and a MPA from Harvard University.
