Maritime decarbonization and ESG transparency

Maritime decarbonization and ESG transparency

We discuss the pros and cons of the possible measures and options to achieve maritime decarbonization.

The shipping industry is a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions. With 80% of global trade volume transported by shipping, maritime decarbonization is key to addressing climate change and reducing global emissions.

To achieve maritime decarbonization, a range of options are being considered, from alternative fuels such as methanol, ammonia and hydrogen, through to carbon capture and nuclear power. The most appropriate approach will depend on a variety of factors, including the type of vessel, nature of trade, health and safety, and the development of associated supply chains and costs.

Join us on Friday, 10 February 2023 to discuss maritime decarbonization and ESG transparency. Our guest speakers, Tham Wai Wah, Chief Sustainability Officer at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore; and Steen Lund, Chief Executive Officer and Tarun Mehrotra, Chief Strategy Officer at Rightship Pty Ltd, will lead the discussion on the pros and cons of the possible measures and options to achieve maritime decarbonization.

We will also discuss the use of standardized reporting frameworks and digital technologies such as blockchain to inform decision-making about the most appropriate technologies and fuels to meet emissions reduction targets.
